What Are Dental Crowns?
A dental crown is used to restore a tooth that has been damaged, either by decay or trauma. At least two dental visits will be required for this procedure. The first visit is to prepare your tooth for the crown, usually ending with a temporary crown. The second visit will be to place the permanent crown, usually made in an off-site lab. Your dentist will also determine whether or not to perform a root canal procedure, prior to placing the crown.
